Amgen Expands Ohio Manufacturing with $900M Investment โ Biotechnology giant Amgen announced a $900 million expansion of its Ohio manufacturing facility, creating 350 additional jobs and bringing the company's total investment in Central Ohio to over $1.4 billion. The expansion will increase total employment to 750 jobs at the state-of-the-art biomanufacturing facility that originally opened in 2021 with 400 positions. This investment enhances Amgen's global biologics manufacturing network and follows the company's recent $1 billion commitment to build a second plant in North Carolina, as part of its strategy to build cutting-edge biologics manufacturing capabilities and ensure patient access to innovative medicines worldwide. Cincinnati Children's Expands Global Reach with UAE Partnership โ Cincinnati Children's Hospital announced a transformative collaboration with Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) to establish a world-class pediatric center of excellence at SEHA Sheikh Khalifa Medical City. Building on more than 15 years of collaboration in the region, the partnership will elevate pediatric healthcare across Abu Dhabi and the greater Gulf Cooperation Council, spanning all aspects of pediatric care, research and education. Dr. Daniel von Allmen, Cincinnati Children's chief of surgery for over a decade, will serve as UAE regional president, bringing his expertise in fetal care, esophageal surgery, epilepsy surgery, and other highly specialized pediatric programs to expand access to world-class care for children globally. LetsGetChecked Establishes Midwest Hub in Fairfield โ Irish at-home diagnostics company LetsGetChecked announced plans to open a new fulfillment facility and laboratory in Fairfield, creating 74 new jobs and generating $4.5 million in new annual payroll. The vertically integrated healthcare solutions company, which offers home testing kits for sexual health, wellness, fertility, and vitamin deficiencies, will locate at the Fairfield Trade Center to serve as its Midwest distribution hub. Building on its 2024 acquisition of Truepill in Sharonville, LetsGetChecked chose Ohio for its outstanding logistics infrastructure and major shipping hubs, receiving an eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit from the state to support the expansion. Health Collaborative Identifies Top Regional Health Challenges โ The Health Collaborative released findings from its Community Health Needs Assessment, revealing the top three health priorities impacting the Cincinnati region: heart disease and stroke, mental health, and housing stability. The assessment found that 1 in 5 adults lack a personal healthcare provider, 1 in 3 people are underserved by mental health professionals, and 1 in 3 emergency department visits include a mental health diagnosis. With input from over 10,000 residents through surveys, focus groups, and interviews across the 18-county tri-state region, the data will inform The Health Collaborative's Community Health Improvement Plan to address barriers to healthcare access and social determinants of health. UC Health to Close Historic Drake Center After 165 Years โ UC Health announced it will close the Daniel Drake Center, its post-acute care facility on West Galbraith Road, by September 30, 2025, ending 165 years of patient care. The closure will eliminate 474 jobs, though affected employees will have opportunities to pursue open positions within UC Health's broader system. The health system cited the facility's age and sustained financial challenges as reasons for the closure, stating it plans to "invest in access to high-demand services and community needs" instead, with current patients either completing treatment on-site or transitioning to other UC Health locations. Rubicon Founders Invests in Ohio's Largest Ambulatory Infusion Network โ Healthcare investment firm Rubicon Founders announced a majority investment in Horizon Infusions, Ohio's largest network of ambulatory infusion centers with 21 centers statewide. The acquisition will support Horizon's expansion while maintaining its independence and mission of providing critical infusion therapies to patients with chronic conditions in a convenient outpatient setting. BroadOak Capital will continue as a minority investor in the platform, which is known for its operational excellence and state-of-the-art facilities that deliver comprehensive infusion therapies at lower costs than traditional hospital settings.
